🚩 What Coverup Reveals

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

Where there is sin there is guilt. Where there is guilt there is shame. Where there is shame there is usually— coverup; fig leaves in Eden; Cain’s covering a dead body. Joseph’s brother’s used goat’s blood and a tall tale; David, a war widow wedding. Jesus saw through the whitewash of the Pharisees; Peter through Anninias’s pretense. Coverup— reveals sin.

When you hear someone using more words than normal; when someone’s looking like they are stuck in a place they would have no known reason to be; when direct questions get squirrelly answers, you may be looking at a COVERUP!

Sometimes those that live in darkness don’t realize how conspicuous their deceptions are to those that walk in the light. On the other hand, we tend to be blind to bad things in someone we love. But when we take off our rose-colored glasses we can see what others see easily. And if we know what should be going on, or what someone should be saying, or how things should really look, a coverup is as conspicuous as a red flag. There might be silence when there should be talking; talking when there’s no need for it; big words and legalese to explain what should be simple. Whatever the anomaly, just make a quick inquiry to see if you can get a simpler response, or only another layer of pretense.

Once we see that the cover is not going away, we know (aside from a possible surprise party) that this coverup points to a sin of some kind. Because if we walk in the light as He is in the light we have fellowship— keep no secrets. Very simply, coverup reveals sin!
